Introduction
We have a vision for expanding the church's facilities to accommodate a new worship area and larger social space. The current sanctuary and fellowship hall will be divided into permanent classroom space. This addition will be 80' x 80', more than tripling the current facility. Why are we doing this? Our current sanctuary is more than 75% filled each Sunday. If it feels full or you feel squished, that's why. Most researchers find that 70% feels full and 80% feels stifling. God is doing great things through Bethany Church and we want to reach out to the lost in our community, but there is nowhere to seat them right now. The seating capacity will increase from 160 up to 300. Each class will have its own enclosed room. AWANA will have a larger gamefloor and more alternatives for room assignments. The list of improvements that the building program brings is endless.

July 1, 2010: Two aspects of our plan require a zoning variance from the Whitehall Township Zoning Hearing Board. We will seek this variance at a July 20, 2010 public hearing. We need variances for off-site parking and the drive-thru canopy. The following day, if our variances are approved, we will go to before the Whitehall Township Planning Commission on Wednesday, July 21.
May 20, 2010: The plans have received the preliminary approval of the Whitehall Township Planning Commission at the commission's May 19 meeting.
April 25, 2010: Our surveyor has submitted plans to the Whitehall Township Planning Commission to be reviewed and (hopefully) approved at their May 19, 2010 meeting. Pray for this meeting to go well.
